About the Trust

Our Dream

The Eifion Trust is a charitable organisation with one aim: to alleviate the many ill effects of poverty in developing countries. The work we do across the developing world form part of our overall vision for the world, that:

The Earth is one country and humankind its citizens.

The individual projects we support fall into a number of categories that are defined by the International Monetary Fund (IMF): the prevention of poverty, education, health, citizenship and community, the protection and improvement of the environment, and the relief of those in need.

This is achieved by working with organisational structures or other charitable entities such as Rotary to find, fund and closely monitor each project.

Who we are

The Eifion Trust is a family trust founded by Ann and Barry Evans over 10 years ago to provide funds for projects all across the world. Today, it is run by dedicated family members and trustees who support wholeheartedly the aims of the founders. With Ann and Barry’s three surviving children and their thirteen grandchildren between them, the future of the trust is assured; several younger family members have already visited or spent considerable time in Nepal at their keystone project, Charlotte’s Haven on Earth and have come home inspired. Over in CHoE, many of the alumni, their peers who lived, loved and benefitted from being there, are commited to keeping the ball rolling and giving a hand up to those following in their wake.

In this way, it is very much a ‘family’ trust, always including with their own thirteen grandchildren, the many children and young people the founders considered their Nepalese “grandchildren”and who called them Granny Ann and Grandpa Barry.  Although, currently the main funding from the Eifion Trust is directed to ongoing projects in Nepal, chiefly CHoE and Q Learning Schools, there has in the past been considerable funding for projects in other parts of the world which the Eifion Trust hopes to resume in the future.  In the UK, donations are given through the Ann and Barry Evans Foundation (ABEF).

Our Trustees

Kate Jackson

Chair

Following a degree in Latin American Studies, and considerable time living, working and travelling there, Kate co-founded a silver jewellery importing business based in Mexico. For over a decade the company worked closely with small family workshops and artisans growing their businesses together.

Since then, her family have divided their time between living on the coast in Kent and working abroad in Europe and Asia. Kate speaks several languages, is a qualified language teacher, and has spent the last few years working in international schools in China. Whilst based in the UK, Kate and her husband ran an international education consultancy, placing overseas pupils in UK independent schools and providing homestay and guardianship. Kate also has considerable experience of recruitment as the Director of Admissions in an independent school in the UK.

Married with three sons, with a keen interest in world affairs and a background in developing countries, Kate strives to continue her parents’ legacy and involve the younger generation in finding ways to make the world a better place for all.
